Michael Downs is the author of House of Good Hope, which won the 2007 River Teeth Literary Nonfiction Prize. A recipient of a fiction fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, Downs has published short stories in Gettysburg Review, The Missouri Review, Five Points, and The Georgia Review. He teaches creative writing at Towson University. With his wife, who is seventeen years his senior, he blogs about younger men married to older women at http://himplus17.blogspot.com.

Valerie Due is the author of The Skinning Board, a memoir about legacy, love, and loss on a family farm. She is currently at work on a nonfiction book about the cultural, social, and environmental costs of America’s shift from family farming to corporate agriculture. She has won both the Writers@Work and the Tomales Bay Workshops nonfiction fellowships, and her journalistic work has been published in business and trade magazines. She earned an MFA from Ashland University and teaches writing for Ashford University.

Richard Goodman‘s new book, A New York Memoir, will be published in the fall of 2010. He is the author of French Dirt: The Story of a Garden in the South of France and The Soul of Creative Writing. He has published his work in the Harvard Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, New York Times, Ascent, French Review, Commonweal and The Writer’s Chronicle. He teaches creative nonfiction at Spalding University’s brief residency MFA in Writing program. He lives in New York City.

John E. Keats lives in Massachusetts. He has a M.A. in English from Boston College. His fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Relief, Roux, Under the Sun, and a Heinemann anthology, Am I Teaching Yet?

Daniel W. Lehman is the coeditor of River Teeth and returned last September from another trip to South Africa, where he has been interviewing and studying South African journalists, film directors, and fiction writers. Most of his current writing projects stem from his travel and research in southern Africa during the past few years. The author of two books about literary nonfiction, Matters of Fact and John Reed and the Writing of Revolution, as well as coeditor of The River Teeth Reader, Lehman is an English professor at Ashland University and resident faculty mentor in the Ashland MFA Program.

Gregory L. Morris teaches at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. His work has most recently appeared in Talking River Review and is forthcoming in Chautauqua.

Nick Neely is a recent graduate of the literature and environment program at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is the editor of The LBJ: Avian Life, Literary Arts.

Anne Panning is the author of Super America, which won the 2006 Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction and was favorably reviewed in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Publisher’s Weekly, and others. She has also published a book of short stories, The Price of Eggs, as well as short fiction and nonfiction in places such as Beloit Fiction Journal, Bellingham Review, Prairie Schooner, New Letters, The South Dakota Review, The Florida Review, Passages North, Black Warrior Review, The Greensboro Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Quarterly West, The Kenyon Review, and Brevity. Her essay “Specs: My Life in Eyeglasses” was listed as a Notable Essay in The 2006 Best American Essays; another essay, “Secondhand,” was listed as Notable in The 2007 Best American Essays. She has just completed a memoir, Viet*Mom: An American Mother of Two Moves to the Mekong. She lives in upstate New York with her husband and two children and teaches creative writing at SUNY-Brockport.

Jonny Steinberg is a native South African who was educated at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and at Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. His first two books, Midlands and The Number, both won the Sunday Times Alan Paton Award for literary nonfiction, an unprecedented achievement. Steinberg is also the author of Three-Letter Plague (published in the United States as Sizwe’s Test: A Young Man’s Journey through Africa’s AIDS Epidemic) and Thin Blue: The Unwritten Rules of Policing in South Africa. His columns for Business Day were collected in the book Notes from a Fractured Country. Steinberg currently is working on a book about the Liberian diaspora on Staten Island, New York.

Emily C. Watson is from Indianapolis and she recently completed her MFA at West Virginia University. Her work has been published in AGNI, and “Alice and Emily, Diana and Dunes” was a finalist for the Narrative Magazine‘s 30Below Competition. She lives with poet Matt Anserello, their brand new baby, and two retired greyhounds.

Eliza Wilmerding is an author whose work has appeared in Yankee, Los Angeles Times, Harvard Magazine, Powder, MotherJones.com, The Boston Globe, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Providence Journal, Boston Phoenix, and The Dallas Morning News, among other newspapers and magazines. Her work has won a NEPA and a Society of Professional Journalists award along with Yankee magazine’s 2001 “New Voices” contest.
